I would like to share good news for everyone especially deaf people in NY who were worried about limited usage of internet from Time Warner that would prevent from them using video phone. Now they do not have to worry about dealing with meter bandwidth now in Time Warner because Time Warner got the message that limiting bandwidth usage is not an option.
However fight for internet freedom is not over yet.

I am totally with you! I know this is a serious issue about internet providers capping the internet speeds at customers' homes. So it is okay for hearies to have access to the voice phones which aren't capped, and limit the Deafies' usage of the internet for videophone calls??
Good luck in getting other Deafies involved in this issue and concern! I tried to promote savetheinternet.com with my peers and got snubbed. :-/
Do not give up promoting it. You have a blog, promote it in there; therefore, out there people will listen. Whoever ignore it will wake up someday like I did.
In a rapidly changing society, one finds himself acting before it is really necessary. We have some questions about how much bandwidth we really use with our videophones...some deaf technicians have said it really isn't as high as one might think. On the other hand, tier pricing might save most of us money at our present usage levels.
Corporates and businesses are the biggest users of bandwidth, and so are gamers and movie downloaders. So far, we find online movies inaccessible, so that might not even apply to us.
We need more accurate information before we can act on it. As it happened, a majority of Time Warner customers complained and TW backed down. This is temporary, because Time Warner has now announced they will distribute usage meters for customers to see their own bandwidth consumption. This issue may come up again.
Dianrez,
Thank you for sharing excellent comment. That is something that we, deaf people, can learn from you.
According the issue may come up again, the reason is I said fighting for internet freedom is not offically over.
If you want know more about it, go to previous post with comments that would be helpful.
Customers' complaints can be ignored easily, so additional help such as savetheinternet would be harder to ignore. Look at facebook's past. They ignored users complaint at first.
It is up to everyone to act or not to act to support internet freedom. Of course, we need check depth information before to act. I did research about Time Warner's plan and completely disagree with their plan.
Video phone needs 256kps upload and download. Think about how long will people use it; is it one hour or 8 hours per day? I had thought about it and acted against the plan to help deaf community.
A postscript for your blog: today's Rochester newspaper reported on a demonstration outside the Time Warner (Roadrunner) building. Link: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2009904190332
What is interesting is this: "customers must keep their eye on the company to ensure it (usage pricing) isn't introduced again." Consumers have a real voice in the services they buy.
Dianrez,
Thank you for sharing the link. Wow! people did protested against Time Warner. The reason reporter wrote "customers must keep their eye on the company to ensure it is not introduced again is Time Warner is looking for more profit, so the company will do anything to make more money. That something that we have to watch out for.
