Are we, deaf people, easy target for scam such as winning lottery, promotion, milt-marketing, pyramid, ponzi scam?
I had been reviving emails that telling I had won lottery or revived IMs in past to claim that I should send crazy cost to get 90,000 dollars such as 500 dollars. I just got email from spammer by saying CEO of Facebook is giving me 150 thousand dollars. I see contact information mentioned "deaf." I had to report it to scam. I want it stop. Why it has always connected to "deaf." when it comes to scam. I tried get involved to make extra money but they ended up purely scam in a couple years ago. I had some people begged me and demand me to get involved with it again, I had to turn it down and get out of their life because of that. People needs to learn that those method will not work at all and eventually can ruin life, friendship, and families. I remember my closest friend in years ago, she was old but she told me that she tried those method in more than 50 years ago and it turned out purely scam. Obviously, it had been in many generation that people tried those method again and make same mistake again.
There are many better opportunity for better life but they need be found by people who seek for it. There are so many legalization way to make money but it takes time and patience.
I would like to see deaf people as a strong community and not be fooled again and not be easy target.

Facebook depends on advertisers as its free to use, the only way to limit spamming is to get off facebook, but they will still have your details. Nothing is for nothing !

Getting off from the facebook is not a solution to stop spamming. Only solution to end them is people need get wiser and not be fooled by them that will reduce the scam.
I find most social online site users do not have any idea what is happening or care half the time. Facebook is the greatest threat to personal privacy on the planet, and is responsible for an 7.500% increase in online grooming of vulnerable children and adults. Do they care (Facebook ?), not a bit. It's a perverts, and identity theft nirvana... I use highly encrypted e-mail only to contact friends, there is virtually nil spam at all coming in, at my blog, I actively moderate so no chance of idiots or spammers there either, it's instantly removed, I don't allow advertising either as this is another avenue used. Steering clear of social sites is the key to limiting a lot of the real threats. I use ONLY Moderated sites and people know to be trustworthy. Safety in responsible numbers.
True but we are not alone. Remember famous ponzi scam by Madoff.
All hearing people got fooled by Monster Madoff but fortunately, the investors will get the money back after regroup up the money that Madoff's everything and estates properties sold first.
Deaf people 's money already flush down the toilet and never recovery.

Hearing people also can be fooled, too. I just try make a point that often I had seen emails, IMs, etc... it often related to deaf. It is totally unfair that deaf people lose money while others get money back; however, I understand life is unfair.
